Down Payment Assistance Program

- NPRHA’s Down Payment Assistance Program is designed to provide funding to eligible families who are purchasing an existing home or construction of a new home to make the payments affordable for the family.

- Grant amounts are forgiven over a 15-year period, the home is used as the family’s primary residence and not resold over that time.

- Eligible applicants are Alaska Natives and American Indians whose income is at or below the 80% of area median income and who are able to qualify for a mortgage for the balance of the purchase price of the home.

- This program is currently only available in Seward and Valdez, with maximum grants up to $40,000.00, not to exceed 20% of the cost of the home.
